CCL rescues member from Policy Custody

Crested Crane Lighters Meet Parliamentarians over Right to Reproductive Health






Sex workers Rights Organisation, Crested Crane Lighters has held meetings with Members of Parliament on Social Services Committee on the Right to Reproductive Health for sexworkers and women who have sex with women. Ms Juliet Katongole, the CCL Director told Minister Rukia Nakadama that sex workers are women with full rights and should be supported by government poverty eradication programmes. Ms Katongole told the Minister and parliamentarians at a meeting held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala that sexworkers are stakeholders in HIV/AIDS campaign and should be supported. Juliet told the minister that sexworker is work and should be respected.
Ms Rukia Nakadama, the minister thanked Juliet for the good work done. She said government would support CCL initiatives to help sexworkers off the street. Nakadama encouraged Juliet to write a proposal for funding that government would support. Hon. Mwebaza told Juliet to arrange a meeting with her and CCL members to discuss health and human rights of sexworkers.
